The original three bedroomed house dates back to 1860 and was built on the site of the old Beacon Hill Quarry, which can be found at the rear of the house as a giant rock garden.

Heathercliffe has now been carefully restored to its former glory as a Victorian Country House, with ten acres of grounds in which to wander. Beacon Hill, the highest point in the area, is to be found in the grounds with the Beacon Master seat and steps cut from solid stone. Also situated in the grounds is the now disused Sandstone Quarry, with its towering thirty foot cliffs. The oldest carvings have been found to date back as far as the 1641 Civil War.
